Sheffield Wednesday: The Stoke City ace back to take on the Owls

Sheffield Wednesday will face attacker Tom Ince on Saturday even though Stoke City manager Gary Rowett is playing a guessing game.

Ince has recovered from a hamstring injury and will play at Hillsborough as the Potters look to turn round a stuttering start to their Championship campaign.

The only question is whether he will be given a role on the left or right wing.

“He’s worked hard, Incey,” says Rowett. “I think there’s a pretty good chance he will be selected. He was playing very well before he got injured. He’s got great quality.

Talking points from the Owls press conference

“He gives us an added goal threat from that right-hand side. I don’t think he’s solely stuck to that right-hand side. I think he can also play off the left."

Ince's return is a boost for the Potters who lost James McClean to a broken during the international break. McClean was injured while training with the Republic of Ireland squad.

Wednesday will be without Ferdando Forestieri as the Argentine forward begins a three-match ban for the part he played in a braw at the end of a friendly at Mansfield Town in pre-season.

Stoke, relegated from the Premier League campaign last term, are among the favourites for promotion but are in 18th place after their opening six games brought a solitary win, two draws and three defeats.

Wednesday, following three wins in their last three league encounters, are 11th.
