Fernando Forestieri makes his fifth consecutive start for the Owls for the first time since the final games of the 2017/18 season and Connor Wickham is reintroduced in for his first start since defeat at Luton a fortnight ago.

The team sees Monk revert to the 4-2-2 formation he has utilised in most matches at Hillsborough this season. Joey Pelupessy and Dominic Iorfa miss out with skipper Tom Lees and Julian Borner preferred at the heart of defence.

It’s the first league match Iorfa has not started since Monk’s appointment at Hillsborough in September. With Fox back, Liam Palmer returns to his more comfortable spot on the right. Top scorer Steven Fletcher is on the bench.

They’re up against a Charlton side that arrive in resurgent mood having won three of their last five matches and that have climbed out of the relegation zone.

The Owls are hoping to score their first goal at Hillsborough since December 29 and are aiming to kickstart a run of form that is yet to get going in 2020.

Monk opted for a 3-5-2 formation at St Andrews, which was changed to a 4-4-2 in a more promising second half.
