Jack Hunt is keeping his fingers crossed that Owls teammate Barry Bannan’s groin injury is nothing too serious.
Scotland international Bannan was taken off in the 31st minute of Saturday’s defeat to high-flying Fulham and replaced by Jacob Butterfield.
Bannan cut a frustrated, dejected figure as he left the field and his presence in the midfield engine room was sorely missed as Aleksandar Mitrovic’s strike condemned the Owls to a first loss in five outings.
Hunt told The Star: “It was a big blow when Barry went off. There have been a lot of people who have had an injury in a similar area and a lot of them seem to get setbacks. Obviously, I’m very close to Barry and I’m gutted for him. I don’t know how bad it is. I’m praying it is not too bad for him.”
Wednesday, who travel to Queens Park Rangers tomorrow, expect to find out the full extent of Bannan’s problem over the next 48 hours.
