THE CLASH of home games for Wednesday and United in September has been avoided by the Owls switching to a Wednesday evening.

With the city rivals both handed home matches on Tuesday, September 18, the Football League left it to the clubs to come to an agreement in conjunction with the local police.

The Blades will now stick to Tuesday when they face Doncaster, and the Owls will play a day later against Huddersfield, kick-off 7.45.

It will be United’s turn to move in February, to avoid a home clash: they will face Coventry on a Friday night, with the Owls’ match against Brighton remaining on Saturday, February 2.

Dave Jones’s men have a change for the away game against Brighton. It will be played on Friday, September 14, 7.45pm. instead of the Saturday, to avoid clashing with congestion caused by Freshers Day at Brighton University.

The December game at Cardiff has been moved to Sunday the 2nd, kick-off 3pm, from the preceding day, when the Wales rugby union team play Australia at the Millennium Stadium, at 2.30pm.

The Yorkshire derby at Huddersfield once again will start at 12.30pm on police advice - as was the case for the 2-0 win for the Owls in April. The teams meet at the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday, December 29.

The match at Blackpool on Tuesday, April 16, will start at 8pm - the Seasiders’ normal evening kick-off time.
