Pundit sends Sheffield Wednesday transfer message

Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has been talking about what Sheffield Wednesday should do this summer

Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has sent Sheffield Wednesday a transfer message on what they should be planning during the summer after the end of the 2025/26 season.

Championship relegation was sealed early in the season, virtually due to points deductions, and Wednesday will start behind the eight ball next term, also thanks to a 15-point deficit.

Goodman believes the club has to be realistic in its pursuit of returning to the Championship and should focus on long-term stability, targeting League One promotion for the following campaign in 2027/28.

Goodman was speaking to TheStar.co.uk via the home of top bingo sites and said: "I'd be grateful that you have a football club first and foremost, but then the people that are taking over will be ambitious. Otherwise, they wouldn't be buying a football club like that.

"But they have to be realistic. And they have to work out the finances, work out what they can spend on wages, and work out what kind of characters and players they want in the building that will wear the shirt with pride and leave it all out there every single week. And that will be good enough to compete in League One.

"If they get anywhere near the top of League One from starting from -15, then it will be a minor miracle. But I do think all the eggs in the basket will be geared towards the following season and making sure that they've put the foundations in place next season and that they kick on the following season and get back to The Championship."
