With the Owls 1-0 up in their home clash with Reading, Liam Shaw was give his marching orders after half an hour having been adjudged to have gone over the top on a tackle on Omar Richards.

Incredibly, the incident delivered Wednesday’s fifth red card of the Championship season just 15 matches in. To make matters worse, it is their third in the first half of matches.

Subject to appeal, Shaw will miss three matches.

Wednesday travel to table-topping Norwich City on Saturday and will also be without key man Massimo Luongo, who was yellow carded in the second half to bring his tally to five.
