Sheffield Wednesday suffer DOUBLE suspension blow ahead of Norwich City trip
Yet another Sheffield Wednesday player has been shown red to continue their sorry disciplinary record this season.
With the Owls 1-0 up in their home clash with Reading, Liam Shaw was give his marching orders after half an hour having been adjudged to have gone over the top on a tackle on Omar Richards.
Incredibly, the incident delivered Wednesday’s fifth red card of the Championship season just 15 matches in. To make matters worse, it is their third in the first half of matches.
Subject to appeal, Shaw will miss three matches.
Wednesday travel to table-topping Norwich City on Saturday and will also be without key man Massimo Luongo, who was yellow carded in the second half to bring his tally to five.
New boss Tony Pulis has spoken about the need to improve their dire record with referees.
Alongside Shaw, who was making just his fourth senior start, Josh Windass, Joost van Aken, Tom Lees and Kadeem Harris have been sent off this campaign.
