Jordan Abdull Joins Sheffield Eagles on Loan from Widnes Vikings

Sheffield Eagles have confirmed the loan signing of ex-Super League star Jordan Abdull from Widnes Vikings, on an initial one-month contract.

He joins the Eagles to provide much-needed competition at half-back, after Jordan Lilley’s unfortunate injury left the side without crucial depth and experience.

Since joining Widnes in pre-season, he has made nine appearances and contributed 31 goals, which will make an immediate impact for the Eagles, replacing the injured Lilley’s prowess with the boot.

Having competed in the Super League for several years, playing for sides like Hull Kingston Rovers, Hull FC and London Broncos, and with two semi-final appearances with the Robins, he brings a wealth of quality and experience that could help turn the tide for the Eagles and their current drop-off in their Betfred Championship form.

Not just a Super League star, he also featured for England, playing in a test against France back in 2022.

This loan agreement includes a recall clause, which is activated after seven days.

Abdull is available to start for head coach Craig Lingard’s side immediately, and could be picked to feature in the Eagles’ Championship clash against Salford RLFC this Sunday (3pm KO).
