Sheffield Wednesday striker to be assessed ahead of Stockport County - injury news

Ali Al-Hamadi will be assessed ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s home clash against Stockport County this weekend.
The striker, who is on a season-long loan from Ipswich Town, has been called-up by Iraq for the upcoming international break. Owls boss Henrik Pedersen said he ‘did not know’ whether a foot injury would stop him from playing for his country.
The 24-year-old is one of six players on loan at Wednesday this campaign and they can only include five in a matchday squad. Jaden Heskey was the one to miss out last weekend against Wigan Athletic.
“Ali had some challenge with his foot, and he will need an assessment tomorrow, and then we'll find out what's happened tomorrow,” Pedersen said.
Elsewhere, Yan Valery hobbled off with a knee knock against Wigan after an hour-mark but the news appears to be encouraging on him.
Pedersen explained: “He has looked good in the training, so it's positive, very positive. He has trained through the week. He has been strong. He’s looking good.”
Next opponents Stockport arrive at Hillsborough after winning at Plymouth Argyle and Wigan and they are the top goalscorers in the division. The two sides, who are both expected to be challenging near the top, have not faced each other in the league at S6 since a goalless draw 21 years ago.
Pedersen added: “I think every game is a test where we are and tomorrow is an amazing test. Stockport have, through the last four or five years, built up a strong culture, a strong style of play, and now be making the next step with this style of play. So you can see it's a very solid team where many players have played there for a long time, and tomorrow it will be a big test, but a test we really looking forward to.”
