The Scotland international made the admission after the Owls' 3-1 win at Charlton Athletic last weekend.

Speaking to Sky Sports as part of their 'Ten to Tackle' feature, the former Burnley, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sunderland and Marseille striker said: “It’s the best changing room I’ve ever been in.

"As a group, there’s no cliques or anything, everyone’s just together. The foreign lads, the (British) lads, it’s been brilliant.

“I think that’s what’s showing the character out there – we show it on the pitch and off the pitch and it’s good."

Fletcher was named in the English Football League's Championship Team of the Week after his match-winning contribution in front of the cameras at The Valley.

The 32-year-old notched a brace either side of half-time to help Garry Monk's side record a first win on the road since late September.

Fletcher opened the scoring in the 17th minute, glancing in Barry Bannan's glorious cross from the left.

He grabbed a second from the penalty spot after Erhun Oztumer was adjudged to have brought down Newcastle United loanee Jacob Murphy. Fletcher held his nerve from 12 yards to claim his eighth goal of the campaign.

"He deserved his goals," said Monk. "Strikers obviously thrive on goals and that gives them confidence but I think his performances, overall, have been where they need to be."

Fellow forward Atdhe Nuhiu sealed the points in added on time.
