A global pandemic in the middle of his first season at Sheffield Wednesday was not exactly what Kadeem Harris was expecting, but in a campaign of highs and lows he’s now able to reflect on his first 10 months at Hillsborough.

Harris was snapped up by Steve Bruce in July of last year before the then Owls boss made the move to Newcastle United, but interim replacement, Lee Bullen, and then full-time manager, Garry Monk, both opted to keep utilising the wide-man to the extent that 2019/20 will go down as his busiest season to date.

The 26-year-old has played 2647 league minutes so far since making his debut back in August, overtaking his previous personal best of 2173 minutes in his 2016/17 season at Cardiff City.

Speaking to the Star from his family home in Hartfordshire, the speedy winger said, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with him so far, he’s a very good man-manager and very straightforward as well. There’s no cutting corners, he’s a very detailed manager, who works on and speaks about tactics a lot. It’s been great.

“He hasn’t deserved the run of form that the team has had, because it’s nothing to do with him or the coaching staff, it’s just been a very unlucky period and it’s up to us as the players to turn that around.”

“It’s not the manager or staff,” he reiterated. “Because he’s been brilliant. He’s one of the best managers that I’ve worked with in my career. I’m sure things will change, and this period that we’ve had will be forgotten once we’re on the way up again.”

Just five players in the Championship have attempted more dribbles than the Wednesday attacker this season (122), and only seven have completed more (67), but will be hoping to add to his three goals and three assists when – or if – action resumes.
