Sheffield Wednesday have today confirmed skipper Glenn Loovens has agreed a new one-year contract.
The influential defender, formerly of Celtic and Cardiff City, joins midfield duo Jose Semedo and Kieran Lee in committing his future to the Championship club.
Since joining the Owls in December 2013, Loovens has played 54 times for the Owls. He played an integral role in Wednesday equalling a long-standing club record set in 1978/70 season of 17 league clean sheets before picking up an ankle injury last January.
The 31-year-old formed an outstanding partnership at the heart of Wednesday’s rearguard with Tom Lees.
