Jeremy Helan is urging his Sheffield Wednesday teammates to show no fear when they take on Premier League big boys Manchester City tomorrow.

It will be the second time the two clubs have played each other this season, with City trouncing the Owls 7-0 at the Etihad Stadium in the Capital One Cup last September.

But Helan, who came through the youth ranks at City, is confident Wednesday will give a good account of themselves as they chase a third straight win.

He told The Star: “I don’t think it (the cup) is a distraction. It could be even better than a Championship game because you have to step up. We are going to have to raise our game.

“I’m not saying we should be confident that we are going to win over there [City] but it’s not men against kids. It’s men against men. It’s 11 versus 11. You never know what can happen.

“Manchester City are a great team. They are probably the best in England but we shouldn’t go there thinking we have lost the game already. The game has not been played yet so we’ve got every chance of doing something.”

French utility player Helan has played down his return to City, insisting his sole focus is on helping Wednesday cause a cup upset.

“I’m going there as a Sheffield Wednesday player trying to get a good result for the club,” said Helan, who made one substitute appearance for City. “There is nothing emotional for me.”
