Sheffield Wednesday 'set' hefty club asking price, Nottingham Forest dealt summer transfer blow
Sheffield Wednesday's 2020/21 season drew to a close last weekend, when a dramatic final day ultimately led to heartbreak for the Owls, whose enthralling 3-3 draw with Derby County wasn't enough to see them avoid relegation.
The result sees Wednesday - who saw their 12-point deduction halved to six earlier in the season - finish the campaign rock bottom of the table, and there's much work ahead over the summer to ensure they stand a chance of bouncing back up from League One in the 2021/22 campaign.
Speaking after the draw against Derby, which saw Sam Hutchinson, Callum Paterson and Julian Borner all score for the Owls, Wednesday boss Darren Moore said: “In the week I went back into the training ground (after illness) and told the lads, ‘the fact you’re still in here this season, with what’s been thrown at you, going into the final 90 minutes of football, that has to be credited.’
“With all the setbacks we’ve had, we’ve still maintained a competitive edge and a focus and we have to go again. You can look at the six points as a huge factor in the season. Without those six points, we’re not talking like we’re talking today. But it is what it is and that’s the reality of it all.
“I leave here today with those words. I look at the performance and the players gave everything. That’s all I can ask for today.”
Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Sheffield Wednesday and the rest of the Championship, as the reaction to last weekend's action continues:
