Sheffield Wednesday rumours: Cardiff City could beat Owls to towering striker, Fulham linked with ex-Burnley boss

Sheffield Wednesday are stepping up their efforts to secure some key transfer targets, as the Owls look to rebuild their depleted squad ahead of the new season.

The Owls parted number with a players following their relegation to League One, and it will be fascinating to see how the new-look Wednesday side lines up on the first day of the 2021/22 season in August.

Meanwhile, Euro 2020 is approaching the end of the group stages, and England play their final game of the opening phase against the Czech Republic tomorrow evening.

Wednesday defender Liam Palmer missed out on a place in the Scotland squad, and revealed: “I’m not going to lie, it was a bit of a surprise to be honest. Initially it was a missed call from him (manager Steve Clarke), the day before the announcement. You kind of know it’s not good news from that.

“I text him before the game on Monday [vs Czech Republic] that I went up to watch, he replied saying he appreciated the message, I spoke to a few of the boys who said they were missing me in camp which was nice.

“I’m obviously gutted. It’s one of those things, Steve Clarke called me and explained he had some big decisions to make.”
