After finishing rock bottom of the table, Darren Moore has a serious task on his hands to build a squad capable of bouncing straight back up next season, and is in danger of losing some key players unwilling to drop down into the third tier of English football.
Discussing key player Josh Windass, ex-Owls star Carlton Palmer gave his verdict on whether the attacker would remain at Hillsborough, and claimed: “A lot of clubs have shown interest in him from the Championship and why would he want to play in League One?
“Without a doubt, Sheffield Wednesday could satisfy his financial needs to stay there for another season, you know it’s one of those where Darren (Moore) may be able to sit down and try and show him what they are trying to do next season.
“But if you look at the likes of Fulham and West Brom, who are reportedly interested in him, these are teams that are looking to go back to the Premier League, not stay in the Championship. So, you know, I would be very surprised if he’s still there. I’d be very surprised.”
Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Sheffield Wednesday and the rest of the Championship, as the reaction to last season and the build-up to summer transfer window continues:
