Neil Thompson offers update on Liam Shaw

Liam Shaw's continued Sheffield Wednesday absence explained amid Celtic links

Liam Shaw remains a topic of conversation at Sheffield Wednesday, and Neil Thompson has explained why he again wasn’t part of the side that beat Preston North End.

Who was your man of the match?

Fans hail defensive qualities

'Urhoghide, Hutch and Lees were mountains at the back today' - Sheffield Wednesday fans hail defence in win over Preston

A rare goal from defender Liam Palmer was enough to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory for Sheffield Wednesday over Preston North End and, more importantly, three badly-needed points in their quest for survival in the Championship.

Aaaaand that’s a wrap for tonight..

Enjoy a drink and a relax safe in the knowledge that Sheffield Wednesday have another three points in the bag.

Up the Owls!

I wanted another striker on the bench. It was purely a selection thing.

He has to take it on the chin. These are the decisions we have to make.

I think we’ve come through today, there are a few tired bodies but we should be OK fingers crossed.

You get whole-hearted attitude from Osaze. He wants to play football.

But like any of them, he’s got to perform and he’s done that today.

Centre-half is his best position without any shadow of a doubt.

Preston had  a bit of the ball at times and we did. If you don’t perform you trip up and that’s what happened in midweek. It’s about the work rate and the positivity.

It’s important win but we can’t get carried away. We’ve got two tough away matches next week. We have to be ready.

Kachunga has come in today and been terrific, he was on the bench in the week.

I’m not involved in the recruitment. I’ve had discussions but all I’m concentrating is on what I can control.
