Carlos Carvalhal says the majority of players that will start his first game in charge of Sheffield Wednesday 'know the Championship.'
The Portuguese is eagerly anticipating the season opener with Bristol City at Hillsborough on Saturday and insists his team is ready for the battle ahead.
He said: "The majority of the players that will start the game know the Championship
"We are ready to start and ready to fight for the three points in the first match, that is what is important."
Carvalhal confirmed Glenn Loovens is fit to play against Bristol City after sitting out the friendly win over St Mirren last weekend.
Claude Dielna and Filipe Melo will both miss out for Wednesday.
The Owls head coach is delighted to have added Modou Sougou and Rhoys Wiggins to his squad before the start of the season, particularly the latter who he has been chasing since his arrival at the club.
Carvalhal said: "Sougou is a player that can change a game.
"He is more experienced and is a more completed player. I'm very happy to be with him.
"We've followed Wiggins a long time.
"Since we came to Sheffield we have been trying to get him here.
"He knows the Championship and is able to play a lot of games for us."
