With the torrid 2020/21 campaign now a memory for Darren Moore and his players, the Owls are looking to get a bright preseason under their belt before taking aim at an immediate promotion back into the Championship at the first time of asking.

The club confirmed their retained list not long back as they announced which players would and wouldn’t be sticking around for the battle in League One, and now it’s up to Moore and his technical team to work on building a side capable of making a push next season.

At this point in time there has been no confirmation as to what lies ahead for the Owls’ preseason campaign, however The Star understands that – as things stand – they are due back at Middlewood Road in the final week of June as their preparations get underway.

On top of that, it’s thought that a preseason camp in Wales is also on the cards – although still not guaranteed as yet – as overseas training camps remain off the table due to COVID-19 restrictions, with Wednesday currently in talks about potential opponents.

One of those options, it is thought, is with Scottish giants, Celtic who recently confirmed that they would be heading to Wales on their preseason camp, announcing friendlies against Charlton Athletic and Bristol City.

As part of their announcement they said that they would also be playing a game on July 7th, although the opponents for that clash are ‘to be confirmed’ at this stage.

In an interview with the club recently, Moore explained that they ‘have to get a lot of things in place for when they do come back’, but insisted that things were ticking along nicely and that ‘probably the next time I come to address the fans I can be more clear and concise in terms of where we’re going and the games’.

The new League One campaign is due to get underway on August 6th/7th, and Moore will be hoping to get the best preseason possible in the build-up to that game as they seek a flying start his first full season in charge.
