DAVE Jones expects transfer activity to hot up after the weekend if Premier League sides lose in the FA Cup.
Looking to make signings in the January window, he explained: “It’s early days yet; I think there’ll be lots of movement after the Cup games if Premier League clubs get knocked out, because it’s no good them hanging on to players who would only play in cup-ties. “We’ve got one or two things we’re pursuing and we’ll see where it leads.
“There are lots of things going on, but at the moment all we’re concentrating on is trying to win matches.
“We feel we missed an opportunity in the last game, against Burnley, to get ourselves up with the (Championship) pack.
“We want to get back to winning ways; we’re at home and we want to do well in front of our fans.”
Jones confirmed that Chris Maguire could be one of the players who may be allowed to go out on loan this month.
“We was about to make a loan move to Portsmouth before he was injured,” he said. But the Owls boss added that he or others could get their opportunity in the Owls team: “Goals are at a premium at the moment.
“We seemed to have shored it up at the other end, and when games were tight got our noses in front, but unfortunately Burnley scored first and we could not claw it back.”
