Sheffield Wednesday players taking the time to connect with supporters during time off
Sheffield Wednesday players have been reaching out to members of their fanbase during their three-week break between seasons.
Midfield man Adam Reach is the latest player to send messages of thanks to a deserving supporter, offering to send a pair of signed shirts to Wednesday fundraiser extraordinaire Shay O’Grady.
The 10-year-old recently completed a gruelling bike ride marathon, cycling the distance from Hillsborough to Wembley between the S6 ground and Bramall Lane each day to raise nearly £2,000 for Bluebell Wood’s Children’s Charity.
Shay is well-known to a huge number of Wednesday fans for his philanthropy escapades and has now raised well over £10,000 in total through all manner of escapades.
“I just wanted to reach out and give my personal thanks for all the hard work you’ve done for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospital,” Reach said in a message to Shay.
“Hopefully in the near future when we all get back to normal, we can get you down to Hillsborough and see all the players and get a big thanks from all the fans.
“Keep up the hard work! You really are a hero! You have given me and others so much inspiration!”
Earlier this week Cameron Dawson sent a signed shirt to a supporter battling hardship and Keiren Westwood did the same for a young fan celebrating his birthday.

Wednesday players have long been carrying out these little acts of kindness for some time but supporters will agree it’s great to see the players connecting with the fanbase in this way.
