Sheffield Wednesday players take a break at Crucible for World Snooker Championships

Four Owls players swooped into the Crucible yesterday to soak up some of the special snooker atmosphere with the Betfred World Championship now in full swing.

Goalkeepers Joe Wildsmith and Cameron Dawson, midfielder Jacob Butterfield and defender Morgan Fox took time out of their busy schedule to have a game of snooker against each other.

And big snooker fan Wildsmith admitted: “The buzz around the city when the snooker is here is great. I’d hate to see the snooker leave, I hope it stays for a very long time.

“The snooker is great. It’s great for the city and people really looking forward to coming here to watch it.

“I’ve been in the Crucible to watch, it’s just a really special place.

“I watched John Higgins and Kyren Willson last year, and Ronnie O’Sullivan was on the other table against Ding Junhui. It was great to go and watch it, it’s such a hard game and they make it look so easy.”
