The Owls had more shots, more momentum and more of the first 45 before Zan Vipotnik’s opener five minutes into the second dig earned the away side control. It’s a fate Wednesday may well see a fair bit of over the coming weeks, with opposition sides arriving sharper and better equipped to go up a gear in the second half - not least owing to a more impressive bench.
There were bright performances and reasons for positivity. Wednesday played with nice patterns and once again showed huge desire to get something out of the game. Ultimately, though not the fault of those in boots, those attributes don’t butter any parsnips.
Here are our ratings from a spirited defeat at home to Swansea City.

9. Olaf Kobacki - 8
Started brightly. Looked comfortable in his role and pressed with endeavour, forcing Vigouroux into a hairy moment on his own goal line early doors. Dribbled and tried things. Ultimately ran out of steam a touch - but his best Wednesday outing. | UGC

10. Jamal Lowe - 6
Got up and about it early doors. Early looping cross didn't have enough beans on it for him to direct goalwards. Removed in place of Ugbo on the hour. | UGC

11. Bailey Cadamarteri - 6
Put himself about again and produced some important touches in build up but got little joy for large periods. Took on shots when he could and looks confident in doing so. | UGC

12. Ike Ugbo - 7
On for J-Lowe a nick after the hour mark. Came on to link things up nicely and turned things around for a spell, offering a way through the Swans defence. The game had turned before his introduction, in truth. | UGC
