The goals came early, the fans came strong. It was loud, fierce, a vision of everything Sheffield Wednesday football club is and what Sheffield Wednesday Football Club can be.
The players, seemingly down and out after a first leg thrashing that left them red-faced and forlorn, gave everything. In the terraces? One of the great performances in the club’s history.
Liam Palmer’s poked equaliser, then the same from Callum Paterson half an hour or so later. Jack Hunt’s final penalty. These are moments Owls fans will remember forever.
Here are our player ratings from a truly incredible evening at Hillsborough.

5. Callum Paterson - 10
Remarkable. Disruptive, at times nasty in his approach, Paterson rose to the occasion and then some, bombing up and down the wing, winning battles. And the moment? That bleedin’ moment?! Woweewoowaa. Photo: UGC/Steve Ellis

6. Liam Palmer - 10
Fabulous. Raised eyebrows by starting in midfield for the first time in, well, a very, very long time. He did brilliantly, moving the ball at pace and putting his foot in with vigour. And then.. he wrote himself into the Sheffield Wednesday history books as if he weren’t already there. Photo: UGC/Steve Ellis

7. Barry Bannan - 10
Perfect. Deft balls here and there, threaded through-nudges, the odd tackle, you could see Bannan’s heart beating out of his chest from halfway up the South Stand. Photo: UGC/Steve Ellis

8. Marvin Johnson - 10
Superior. Showed for it, wanted it, showed pace. Crossed to fine effect on a number of occasions. Off in extra time injured having run his legs off. Photo: UGC/Steve Ellis
