We won't list the goalscorers for risk of running out of space. Save for some bright breaks in the first half hour, Wednesday didn't have a footing in the game, their midfield swamped, their defence out-manoeuvred and their attack blunted at Portman Road. It was a day all involved will want to forget very quickly indeed.
A two-week international break will deliver time to lick wounds. They'll go again. They'll have to, won't they?
Here are our player ratings from Ipswich as Sheffield Wednesday lost 6-0 to the rampant Blues.
5. Marvin Johnson - 3
Touch was off along with his radar from the off. Seemed to have an issue with his footing - and he wasn't the only one. Recovered a touch in the second half. A real off day for a player otherwise in good form. | UGC / Steve Ellis
6. Will Vaulks - 3
Never got going. Looked off the pace as Ipswich dominated Wednesday's two-man midfield. Chased shadows - he chased and chased them as he always does - but caught none. | UGC / Getty
7. Barry Bannan - 3
Not his day. Midfield was swamped and like Vaulks he was clutching air. Unable to impact things and was taken off at half-time. It was later confirmed he had picked up an injury. | UGC / Steve Ellis
8. Anthony Musaba - 3
A moment of his summed up the outing when 4-0 down. A jink, a turn, some space. For a moment, something... and his shot toe-poked tamely into the advertising hoardings. A featherweight outing. | UGC / Steve Ellis
