Within seven minutes the Owls had opened the scoring and Cameron Dawson had saved two penalties. Within 40 they were 3-0 up. There were slips, trips and missed chances on either side; the magic of the cup.
Josh Windass, Liam Palmer and Mallik Wilks netted on the night - there's one Michael Ihiekwe will claim but may not get - and the Owls presented as a confident, bright attacking outfit. The likes of Barry Bannan and Bailey Cadamarteri were able to be rested and while Ihiekwe's hobbling out of the match may cause concern, it was a wholly satisfactory evening.
The Wednesday manager spoke about a desire to continue momentum. They did that and some. Here are our ratings from a barmy night at S6.

13. Reece James - 6
Off the bench with half an hour to go to make his first appearance in nearly two months. Set up at left wing-back and ended up in the back three. Did some nice things. | Steve Ellis

14. Rio Shipston - 6
On to shield the defence after the hour alongside Palmer. Pushed it about nicely and stepped in to break an attack or two. Photo: Steve Ellis Steve Ellis

15. Michael Smith - N/A
On with 18 minutes to go in place of Josh Windass. Bashed a couple of folk about and got vital minutes in the legs. Photo: Steve Ellis Steve Ellis

16. Gui Siqueira - N/A
On for his senior debut in the place of Michael Ihiekwe. Did so in an slightly unfamiliar role of left wing-back and did well in the 10-or-so minutes he played. | SWFC
