Centre-back Roger Johnson is an injury worry ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s trip to fourth-placed Blackpool.

The defender, on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers until January, suffered a dead leg in the latter stages of Saturday’s home defeat to Huddersfield Town.

Since moving to Hillsborough in mid-September, Johnson has started all nine of the Owls league fixtures.

But the 30-year-old, given the captain’s armband versus Huddersfield, has not been able to help Wednesday keep a shut-out.

Under-pressure Owls manager Dave Jones is short of defensive cover, with Kamil Zayatte and Martin Taylor sidelined through injury. It is not beyond the realms of possibility Jones may choose to dip into the loan market, which shuts at 5pm this Thursday, to plug the gap.

Jones has hinted he will make several changes in the wake of their below-par showing against Huddersfield.

“I can change anyone I want,” he said. “One or two didn’t do themselves justice.”

Left-back Rafael Floro has been called into the Portugal Under-20 international camp scheduled for next month.
