‘Massive’ and Sheffield Wednesday have become synonymous in somewhat tongue-in-cheek fashion.
But new signing Claude Dielna says the size and stature of the club and Hillsborough proved too much of a lure to turn down.
The versatile defender’s limited grasp of the English language may have meant the ‘M’ word was absent from his description of the Owls.
However the sentiment was very much the same from the 26-year-old.
“I am very happy to be here in Sheffield,” Dielna told the Star. “I have always wanted to play in England before for me it is the best.
“I came to Sheffield Wednesday because it is a very good club, a very big club with a good history.
“For me it is the best to come to.
“The stadium is very beautiful and very big. The team has a lot of fans.
“It is for this why I came to Sheffield.”
Dielna’s signing was announced shortly after the Owls’ first defeat of the season at home to Nottingham Forest.
He watched the game and feels the side can improve when they return to action at Bolton next week.
And he is confident Wednesday can push towards the Premier League.
Dielna – who can play at both centre half or left back – said: “I think in the next game the team needs to play better and hopefully we will win.
“I think we can win the games we need to win to get into the Premier League.
“My ambition coming here is to play well for a winning team and I think that can happen.”
