The Owls are determined to wash away the home woes with a strong finish to the season at Hillsborough according to Kieran Lee.
And the versatile midfielder says key to their hopes is mastering the unpredictable pitch at S6.
Wednesday are back at Hillsborough this weekend to host Huddersfield Town, looking to improve upon their disappointing record of just four wins from 19 home matches.
“We have been trying to pick up results at home all season and it’s not always gone right for us,” Lee said. “But we’ll keep trying our best, working hard and hopefully we can finish on a high note.
“We can’t blame the pitch because it’s the same for both teams. It doesn’t suit us because we want to play football but we have to cope with that if the results are going to come.”
Lee admits there is plenty of excitement in the Owls squad over new owner Dejphon Chansiri’s plans to invest £1million into a new pitch.
He said: “It’s more enjoyable when you can get the ball down and play. It’s better for the fans and the football is of better quality.
“A smooth pitch would suit the way we want to play so it’s good news that we’re going to get one.”
