WEDNESDAY manager Dave Jones will only know if the international break has been good for his players after tomorrow night’s match against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.
The Owls went into the 12 lay off between games with a defeat at Crystal Palace - their first of the season - it was thought the players would benefit from a bit of rest after a hectic start to the campaign of six matches in 19 days.
However, Jones said the proof will be if his side can bounce back with a positive result in Sussex: “We’ll only know if the break has done us any good when we play again.
“We’ve got a very busy period coming up with some long journeys ahead of us. And it’s the travelling that’s the toughest part to deal with.
“You have to make sure the players get their rest, eat the right things, get re-hydrated and try and look after them the best you can.”
Another trip to the south coast awaits Wednesday with the Capital One Cup tie at Southampton on September 25. It will the first of three consecutive away games with Wolves (Sept 29) and Burnley (Oct 2).
Before that two games at Hillsborough against Huddersfield (Sept 19) and Bolton (Sept 22) will give the players some home comforts.
And the run of seven matches in 23 days is completed back at S6 with the visit of Hull City on October 6.
