SHEFFIELD Wednesday are defiant after losing ground in the Championship survival chase.
Manager Dave Jones takes comfort from the fact that the Owls’ fate remains in their own hands.
Striker Steve Howard points to the team’s recent good form and believes that they only need to sustain that.
The draw at Blackpool knocked them back to 18th place - three points above the relegation zone but only three below 12th spot.
A win against Ipswich at Hillsborough on Saturday would take the Owls a point above the Tractor Boys, who are currently 13th
Jones says: “We’re still not out of it. We still have to keep plugging away.
“It’s another big one on Saturday; we have to produce the same commitment that we showed against Blackpool.
“It’s still in our hands, and when that’s the case, you’ve always got a chance.
“Other teams are going to be playing one another; for example Huddersfield play Barnsley in the last game. Somebody is going to lose points somewhere along the line.
“We just have to keep going.”
Howard said: “We have been playing well of late. If we put that in and get the crowd behind us, I think we’ll be ok.
“I think the last five games have shown that we’re playing well. We had a blip against Leeds. It was windy and a bad pitch at Blackpool but we got a clean sheet and when you get one of those you’re buzzing.”
The Owls have won three and drawn two of their last six matches.
