Norwich City boss Daniel Farke has expressed his surprise at Sheffield Wednesday’s struggles this season.
The Owls, who have made it through to the play-offs in each of the last two campaigns, head into their Championship finale against the Canaries lying in 16th position.
Speaking at his press call today, Farke said: “They were fighting against relegation for much of the season but they’ve had good results recently and climbed up the table.
“It’s surprising they’ve been in this position as they’ve spent a lot of money on some good quality players, and they are a good side.”
Norwich will be without the services of Mario Vrancic (groin) and Alex Tettey (knee) for the trip to Hillsborough. Centre-half Grant Hanley (ankle) is a big doubt.
Victory over the Owls will seal a top-half finish for the Canaries.
But Farke has warned his players to not take Wednesday lightly this Sunday.
He said: “It will be a tough last test for us, and it’s a shame we’re missing some names but we have to handle it.
“We want to be there with a good performance and to finish really well and to finish with a win.”
