POWERFUL winger Michail Antonio has urged Sheffield Wednesday fans not to panic despite the club sitting fourth from bottom of the Championship.
Since gaining promotion to the second tier of English football, the Owls have lost 10 out of their 17 league fixtures.
With more than a third of the campaign already gone, Dave Jones men hover just two points above the drop zone and are looking to halt a run of three successive defeats when they entertain fifth-placed Leicester City on Saturday.
But Antonio is unconcerned by their league position.
“We just need the fans to believe in us,” he told The Star. “There is no need to worry.
“We are not playing badly. If we were playing badly and losing games, then we would be concerned.
“There is no pressure on the boys. We are only in November. We are not half way through the season.
“We have not been at our best but we are still not in the bottom three. In my eyes, we are not in a relegation scrap.”
Antonio, who has netted four times in 20 appearances, believes it is not beyond the realms of possibility the Owls can still challenge for a top-six spot despite their poor start.
“We are still only 13 points off the play-offs,” he said. “It (top six) is still realistic.
“We have definitely got the boys to go on a good run.”
Jones is keen on signing a striker before the emergency loan market shuts at 5pm today. Antonio feels Wednesday have got to be develop a ruthless streak to climb to safety.
“I feel we battered Nottingham Forest last weekend and did everything but score,” he said.
