Nobody connected with Sheffield Wednesday is likely to forget the 2026 summer transfer window in a hurry.
After a disastrous 2025/26 campaign saw the Owls enter administration for the first time in their history, suffer relegation from the Championship with just two wins to their name and lose countless players, this summer’s window was always going to be a busy one.
After confirming the arrival of Davis Keillor-Dunn on loan from Wrexham almost 48 hours after the window had closed, Wednesday brought the curtain down on a transformative summer having drafted in 18 new signings.
Alongside overseeing the arrivals of 18 new players, Wednesday also oversaw a plethora of exits, both permanently and on loan.
With that in mind, here is a look at how those who left Hillsborough on permanent deals following the end of last season have been getting on...

1. Pierce Charles (Manchester City, loaned out to QPR)
Following relegation, it was inevitable that Wednesday would lose Pierce Charles, and so it proved. Manchester City swooped for the shot-stopper in a deal that could eventually be worth £10 million to the Owls. Despite sealing a return to the Etihad Stadium, Charles was immediately loaned out to QPR. He has quickly established himself as the Hoops' No.1 at Loftus Road, and he has made eight appearances so far, keeping two clean sheets. 2. Svante Ingelsson (Stoke City)
After winning Wednesday's Player of the Season award last term, Ingelsson sealed a move to Stoke on July 1 in a move that could eventually be worth more than £1m to the Owls. The energetic Swede was one of a handful of midfielders recruited by the Potters during the summer as they rebuilt that area of their squad. After starting their opening two matches of the campaign, he was introduced as a substitute in their 3-1 defeat at Southampton on August 22, before being sent off for two yellow card offences. 3. Olaf Kobacki (Wisła Płock)
Following two injury-plagued seasons at Hillsborough, winger Kobacki, who made just 30 appearances for the Owls, returned to Poland in July, joining Wisła Płock for an undisclosed fee. Since returning to his homeland, Kobacki has made eight appearances, including five starts. He was sent off in a 3–2 win over Wikęd Luzino in the first round of the Polish Cup earlier this month. | Getty Images

4. Dominic Iorfa (Rotherham United)
Following seven-and-a-half years at Hillsborough, Iorfa was released by the Owls at the end of last season. He made 222 appearances for Wednesday, scoring seven goals. After a period without a club, he joined Rotherham earlier this month, signing a contract until January. He made his Millers debut last weekend, helping them secure a 1-0 win over Northampton Town at Sixfields. | Getty Images
