Sheffield Wednesday will be going in search of a fourth consecutive win when they welcome Wigan Athletic to Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls, who have won each of their last five home games against the Latics, climbed to the League One summit for the first time this season last weekend after beating Peterborough United 2-1 at the Weston Homes Stadium.
The victory over Peterborough was Wednesday’s third win in eight days, meaning a clear week ahead of this weekend’s clash with Wigan was a much-needed boost. It has given manager Henrik Pedersen and his players some valuable time on the training pitches at Middlewood Road.
Ahead of the clash with Gary Caldwell’s side, Pedersen has confirmed that centre-back Liam Cooper is available for selection after being taken off at half-time against Peterborough, while a decision will need to be made on fellow defender Ricardo Santos ahead of kick-off. Meanwhile, Harry Gray is back in contention after missing the last three games after suffering a head injury.
With that in mind, The Star has had a go at predicting the starting XI Pedersen might choose.

5. LB: Reece James
The biggest compliment you can pay James is that Max Lowe’s absence at left-back has barely been felt. Having started each of the last four matches since returning to Hillsborough last month, the left-back has not put a foot wrong. He has been both solid and dependable, and is now one of the first names on the teamsheet. | ugc

6. CM: Billy Mitchell
After starting the win over Peterborough on the bench, Mitchell was introduced in the second half and helped Wednesday regain control. He has made an excellent start to his Owls career, bringing both control and aggression to the midfield. Having had a clear midweek, it would be no surprise to see him reclaim a starting berth. | ugc

7. CM: Barry Bannan
Bannan has started every League One fixture so far this season, and that trend is expected to continue against Wigan. He has not quite hit top gear yet this term, but the Scot can produce something out of nothing. He is a guaranteed starter. | ugc

8. RW: Jamal Lowe
Fresh from winning the League One Player of the Month award, Lowe will be hoping to continue his excellent start to the campaign. The Jamaican has showcased his versatility so far this season, playing in several different positions, and he could take up residency on the right against his former club. He will be hoping to get on the scoresheet for the second home game running. | ugc
