Sheffield Wednesday give major season ticket update as David Bruce target creeps into view

Sheffield Wednesday are making great progress in their quest to sell north of 21,000 season tickets for the 2026/27 season.

Sheffield Wednesday have announced they have already sold 17,000 season tickets for the 2026/27 League One campaign, meaning they have already sold more than they did for last season.

Season tickets for next season officially went on sale on May 15 and more than 10,000 were sold over the first weekend, highlighting just how eager Wednesdayites are to get behind the club as it enters a new era under the stewardship of Arise Capital Partners.

A huge number of Wednesday supporters made the ultimate sacrifice last season, boycotting spending money inside the club on both tickets and merchandise in a quest to try and oust former owner Dejphon Chansiri.

Following Chansiri’s departure and the club’s successful transition into new hands, Wednesdayites are set to come back to Hillsborough in their numbers ahead of next term. After the Owls confirmed 15,000 season tickets had been sold last Thursday, they have announced sales have now increased to 17,000.

As a result, it means the club has sold more season tickets for next season already than they did for the 2025/26 campaign. Discounted prices have been put in place across the board and the uptake has been very impressive.

Supporters who have had a season ticket at any stage in the last five seasons are entitled to take advantage of the reduced renewal prices until June 15.

Last week, Owls chief executive David Bruce set the target of trying to sell north of 21,000 season tickets to try and beat the all-time record. With just under three weeks to go until this first phase of sales ends, that target is rapidly creeping into view.

Bruce, speaking at last week’s Wednesday Supporters Trust AGM, said: “There are things we want to do here. It’s fan and commercial opportunity. We obviously want to work here first and look at that asset; can we make it what we want to make it? We heard earlier about making it a 40,000; but is it 40,000? Is it 45,000, is it 50? Who knows?

What I do know is that coming off the West Brom game that at 33 or 34,000 a week, if we can do it for that game, we can do it for any game. That’s what I’ve asked the commercial team; bottle that final game of the season and show it to people. Who wouldn’t want to be part of that? It was unbelievable. That’s how I think about it.”
