Sheffield Wednesday news LIVE: Barnsley's Valerian Ismael identifies Owls trio as major threat | More from Dominic Iorfa & Tony Pulis

There’s an absolutely huge weekend ahead for Sheffield Wednesday.

Friday, 11th December 2020, 4:43 pm

The Owls take on Barnsley at Hillsborough tomorrow, still rooted to the bottom of the table and without a win since Tony Pulis took charge last month.

It would be a very good time to pick one up.

Pulis is speaking to the media this morning in the build-up to that clash with the Owls’ South Yorkshire rivals and we’ll also be hearing from a member of the squad later this afternoon, too.

The opposition coach...

Barnsley’s Valerien Ismael: “They are a good team. They have a lot of quality players but are in a struggle right now. But the likes of Kadeem Harris, Barry Bannan and Callum Paterson are big players with proven ability.

“They have a very good coach, an experienced guy. We have prepared for the best of Sheffield Wednesday and not focused on their current ranking.

“It’s not my job though to comment on their style or their current situation. I just focus on preparing my team to go there and get the result we need.”

A bit from Dom on his position and Pulis’ expectations

He’s focused on SWFC

Dominic Iorfa has spoken about his Sheffield Wednesday future and those Watford rumours

There were reports of Premier League interest in Sheffield Wednesday’s Dominic Iorfa earlier in the season, so should Wednesdayites be concerned as the January transfer window approaches?

He’s been here for a while but he hasn’t been able to be involved… He’ll be a really good addition for us.

It’s extra competition. We need competition in the team, so him coming back is a boost. We can’t let performance’s like Huddersfield be a regular thing, so having players who can step in is important. It’s the way it should be.

Iorfa: Definitely, 100%. We have no doubt about that. We’re a confident bunch, everyone is in good spirits and we know what we can do.

It’s a big game, a local derby. A chance for us to show that the Huddersfield game was a one off.

The mood in the camp is really good. We’ve said a lot, now it’s time for us to actually do it.

We came in yesterday, had a good session and we know that the Huddersfield game wasn’t good enough.

Everyone came in ready to try and put things right.

I’ve got nothing to say on that, that’s a confidential matter. I’m just focusing on the game. We’re hoping to get some wins and turn things around.
