Cambridge United announce classy ticket gesture for rearranged fixture vs Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday’s rescheduled League One clash with Cambridge United will take place at Hillsborough on October 27.
Cambridge United have announced that Under-18 season ticket holders will be able to attend their rearranged League One clash against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough later this month for free.
The U’s were originally scheduled to visit Hillsborough last Saturday, but the contest was called off due to the number of international call-ups in the Wednesday camp. The Owls also saw their trip to Stevenage, scheduled for the weekend prior, called off due to international call-ups.
Instead, the rearranged clash with the U’s will take place at Hillsborough on Tuesday, October 27, meaning the game will be played during the half-term holiday.
Wednesday announced last week that they had slashed ticket prices for youngsters for the clash with Neil Harris’ side, meaning U14s can secure a seat anywhere in the ground for just £1. U18 tickets are available for just £7.
With the rescheduled clash taking place during the half-term break, Cambridge want as many youngsters as possible to experience watching them on the road. As a thank you to their loyal season ticket holders, the club has announced plans to offer all U18 season ticket holders a free ticket.
Eligible supporters have been informed that they should visit the Cambridge ticket office or telephone the ticket office to redeem their free ticket. Supporters who have already purchased a ticket for the trip to Hillsborough have been told to contact the ticket office for a full refund.

Alongside the ticket offer, Cambridge have also announced that Junior U's making the trip to South Yorkshire will have the chance to be a mascot for the evening and walk out with their favourite players before kick-off. All U14 season ticket holders who claim a ticket will be automatically entered into a draw, with the lucky winner contacted in the week leading up to the game.
Supporter Engagement Manager Amelia Edwards told the club’s website: "The dedication shown by our supporters since the beginning of the season has been incredible and as a thank you, we are glad to be able to offer families the opportunity to make the trip at an affordable price as well as one lucky young supporter the chance to walk out with the team.
"Our support has been consistently impressive both home and away and we look forward to seeing another loud crowd in Sheffield.”
Cambridge supporters under the age of 18 who are not season ticket holders will, like Wednesdayites, pay £7, while U14s will be able to secure a seat in the away end for £1.
