Sheffield Wednesday's next opponents facing growing injury list ahead of League One fixture
AFC Wimbledon face a handful of injury concerns ahead of their trip to Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.
AFC Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson will be sweating over the availability of Ollie Harrison and Isaac Ogundere ahead of Saturday’s League One clash with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
The Londoners’ four-game unbeaten run in League One came to an end on Saturday as Plymouth Argyle came from behind to win 2-1 at Home Park. Xavier Amaechi scored a 95th-minute winner for the league leaders after Caleb Watts had earlier cancelled out Jayden Stockley’s opener for the visitors.
Defender Ogundere, who has been a key figure for the Dons so far this season, was forced off after just 17 minutes because of a groin problem and was replaced by Freddie Simmonds. Meanwhile, midfielder Harrison was withdrawn with just under 15 minutes remaining after taking a kick to his ankle.
Although Jackson is hopeful that Harrison will be available for the trip to Hillsborough, the former Charlton Athletic captain fears that Ogundere could face a spell on the sidelines.
"Ollie just took a whack on the ankle,” Jackson said, as quoted by Wimbledon’s club website. “I think that's just a sore one, but I think he'll be all right.

"Ogs looks like he's pulled his groin, he is probably likely to probably miss a little while. I don't know how bad it is. I'll speak to him and we'll get him scanned on Monday.”
Although it remains to be confirmed whether Ogundere will miss the clash with Wednesday, Wimbledon will definitely be without centre-back Dan Sweeney and attacker Donnell McNeilly for the trip to South Yorkshire.
“Sweeney's got a hernia issue and Donnell's picked up a hamstring problem, so they'll both probably be missing for a few weeks,” Jackson added.
Wednesday, meanwhile, will welcome the Dons to Hillsborough looking to return to winning ways after a run of three successive League One draws. The Owls won the last meeting between the two sides, securing a 2-1 victory at Hillsborough in April 2022 thanks to a very late goal from Lee Gregory.
