They report: “Barton is understood to be in no rush to find another management position.
“Instead the former England international, who will be paid by Fleetwood until the end of the season, is believed to want to focus on completing his UEFA Pro Licence and explore the option of learning trips to watch training at former clubs Manchester City and Marseille.”
Word from Owls legend Carlton Palmer
Speaking to podcast Football FanCast today, Wednesday icon Carlton Palmer intimated he had been told the Owls are set to stick with caretaker boss Neil Thompson until the end of the season.

“He knows the players, he knows about the players and they will run through a brick wall for him, and [they will] give him until the end of the season to just keep them in the division.
“You know, that’s the easiest scenario for the chairman.
“But if they kick on, and no disregard to Thompson, but he’s not the man who’s going to get them promoted to the Premier League.”
