It is D-day for Chris Kirkland as his ever=present record with the Owls comes under threat.
Manager Dave Jones will check on the keeper today and decide whether he must miss a Wednesday league game for the first time.
Ruled out of training yesterday, Kirkland has suffered sickness coinciding with new loan keeper Damian Martinez making a big impression on Jones.
The Owls boss has already confirmed that the 21-year-old from Arsenal will play at Bolton tomorrow if Kirkland is out.
Jones said yesterday of Martinez: “He’s looked really good. At the moment he’s playing, because Kirky is ill. If Kirky turns in not too good...what’s why we’ve been working with Damien.
“He’s a good prospect. He played in the game at Manchester City (a private friendly last Friday) and did really well. What he’s done in training has backed that up.
“He’s very agile, he’s got great feet, his distribution is good, and he made two or three good saves at Man City.”
“He’s not got the experience of being around the first team all the time, which is what we’re trying to give him. It helps us and it helps to keep Kirky on his toes, because there’s competition.a
