The Owls are in a rich vein of form at home of late, winning all of their last five games at Hillsborough, and were due to go up against a Swans side that are unbeaten in 2021 and making a real push for promotion back into the Premier League, however that game has now been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

It now remains to be seen when that game will be played, but before the game was due to take place ‘Thommo’ was full of praise for his opposite number, Steve Cooper, who he says has done a great job with the Welsh side since his arrival in in 2019.

Speaking to the media, he said, “Steve Cooper’s got them playing some really good football… We watched the game down in the hotel at Millwall last Friday, and they look a really good side. They pass the ball, have got a lot of energy and are up there for a reason. Because they’re a quality team.

“We’re under no illusions, we’re going to have to be at full tilt to compete and get a result, but that’s what the aim is.

“I’ve known Steve a number of years, when he was at the Liverpool academy, and he’s done brilliant going to the FA with the England national team and their World Cup success. They like to play good football, but they’re tough as well.”

Only time will tell when the game will take place, and the Owls boss admits that it’s not getting any easier...

He went on to say, “We’ve won five out of the last seven, and six of the last nine, and we’re only just back in the pack… That tells you what’s happening down there.

“Teams are getting results and energising themselves - that isn’t going to change.

“We know very well we’ve got tough games coming up, but who knows where you’re going to get your victories from. You’ll get wins and defeats, and it’s important that if you get setbacks then you have to react.”
