Despite recovering from illness, skipper Tom Lees has been selected on the bench. Monk has opted to stick with Dominic Iorfa and Julian Borner as his centre-half pairing following their superb performance in the win at Leeds United last weekend.

Hot prospect Osaze Urhoghide, snapped up by the Owls from AFC Wimbledon last summer, makes his home debut.

Full-back Liam Palmer (ankle), forwards Fernando Forestieri and Steven Fletcher (both knee) remain on the sidelines.

Wednesday, lying in sixth position in the Championship, have not won three matches in all competitions since April 2018 under Jos Luhukay.

Thirteen-placed Blackburn, meanwhile, travel to Hillsborough, having gone five matches without a win in the league.

Owls: Dawson; Urhoghide, Iorfa, Borner, Fox; Murphy, Lee, Bannan, Luongo, Reach; Winnall. Substitutes: Wildsmith, Rhodes, Harris, Pelupessy, Lees, Nuhiu, Hutchinson.
