Sheffield Wednesday must learn to be more streetwise if they are to succeed this season.

That's the verdict of Owls midfielder Adam Reach as Jos Luhukay's side put the finishing touches to their preparations for tomorrow's trip to Bristol City.

Jos Luhukay's side squandered a two-goal lead in the midweek home draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Their defending for the Baggies equaliser left a lot to be desired as talented forward Harvey Barnes was allowed to travel 50 plus yards with the ball before drilling a shot past Cameron Dawson.

Asked if the team have to be more streetwise, Reach said: "I think so.

"At 2-0, you need to get the balance of trying to get a third goal, which would have killed the game, and not getting done on the counter attack like we did, especially for WBA's second goal.

"Streetwise is a good term for it. You need to know when to slow the game down and you to take fouls and yellow cards, which I think we could have done.

"At the end of the day, all that matters is the three points. It doesn't have to be pretty. It can sometimes be dirty but if you take the three points who cares?"

Wednesday have faced two of the Championship's top four clubs in their last two matches, picking up credible draws with Leeds United and WBA.

"This week has been a good test for us as a team and squad," admitted Reach, who scored spectacular goals in both fixtures. "We were probably fortunate to come away with a draw against Leeds but then we were disappointed to come away with a draw against WBA.

"In periods in those games, we matched those sides and in some periods we dominated and got the better of them. But there were also periods where they dominated and we had to sit back.

"It was a good test. It showed we can compete at the top of the table.

"Yes, we are sitting in 12th at the minute but if we had picked up a few more points where we should have done we would be sitting quite nicely in and around the play-offs."
