Sheffield Wednesday manager reveals what made him 'happy' in Bromley hammering

The Owls hit Bromley for seven on Saturday

Henrik Pedersen said the performances of his attacking players against Bromley made him ‘happy.’

Sheffield Wednesday hammered seven goals past Bromley, conceding two late on, at Hillsborough on Saturday as they recorded their first home league win of the season.

It was an extremely productive day for The Owls’ forward players, led by Louie Barry, who scored two goals and assisted another two. His set-up for Callum Slattery for an early opener and Jamal Lowe for the sixth which came after two goals of his own straight after half-time. To get off the mark gave Barry a big confidence boost and he never looked back, Pedersen explained.

“I think he was a good picture of the game,” Pedersen said of Barry. “How hard he worked defensively, second balls, all the basic things. First time everything was not perfect for him, but he kept on trying. He kept on challenging one v one. I think for Louis he needed that first situation where he came in, made his goal, and then you could feel wow, now I'm flying again, now I'm back again, and yeah, he was very strong.”

Jamal Lowe also scored two goals and created one, while Mason Burstow netted and assisted as Wednesday ran riot against the newly-promoted Ravens, who were tormented by the hosts at times and were desperate for the final whistle. Although to their credit they scored twice late on to give their travelling 800 fans something to cheer.

The Owls’ front four were fluid and there were plenty of rotations. After failing to scoring against Bradford City and Wolves, they will be hoping the goals will flow from now on.

On the attacking output, Pedersen, who said his team scored some really good ‘transition’ goals, added: “I think they were strong. We had more offensive players around the penalty area today than we have had in the last games. It’s making me happy.”

Wednesday return to action on Tuesday night away at Wycombe Wanderers.
