Owls players were pictured wearing protective masks and have trained in small groups at long distances in order to ensure their safety.

Speaking to The Star this evening after his return from training, the 26-year-old described a happy camp in what was a gruelling first day back. He said no Wednesday player have expressed any concerns over a return to training and all were present in allotted time slots throughout the day.

“I knew it was going to be tough - I didn't think it would be that tough,” he joked. “It gives us a baselayer in terms of letting the club know where the players are fitness-wise.

“The lads have been keeping fit in the weeks that we've had off but we were worked very hard. It's all in the bank now.

“We're in small groups and everyone is in at different times. Today I was with Alessio [Da Cruz], Jordan Rhodes and Liam Palmer. It was nice to see the boys.

“As we were coming and going other boys were doing the same so it was nice to see players we'd not seen for a while in person.

“The weather tops it off, it made it a little bit better. Over the next couple of weeks, hopefully the team can start coming together and we can finish the last few games off.”

Odubajo also explained the instructions players have been given to wear masks at all times when out in public. He also confirmed that all Wednesday players will be tested by club officials twice a week – on Mondays and Thursdays.

“It's going to become the norm,” he said. “Nobody has tested positive in the group and everything is a precaution at the moment. The training ground is the safest place we as players can visit.

“When we do leave the training ground it's best to keep your masks on just in case we come into contact with anyone who has it. We’ve been told to cover up.”
