The 30-year-old, who joined the Owls in the summer, headed out on international duty this month with La Roja, however didn’t feature after it was confirmed that he’d had to undergo surgery that would keep him out of their fixtures.

Chile’s FA confirmed that he’d had an operation on his hip later that day, while the club explained that he would be returning to go through his rehabilitation programme at Middlewood Road in his quest for recovery.

Delgado’s injury came not long after the man who had signed him, Xisco, was fired from his position as manager of the Owls, and he’ll now have to bide his time to try and show new boss, Danny Röhl, what he’s capable of.

The former Pacos de Ferreira man is now back at S6 as his recovery process begins, and took to his Instagram stories this week to put up a post of him in the club gym – though at this point it remains to be seen how long he faces on the sidelines.

Wednesday are back in action this evening as they head to Plymouth Argyle still in search of their first win of the season, and Röhl will be asked about the return of Delgado and his potential return date once the game has come to an end.
