Some players have been without payment for as long as three months and while the club have a way to go to repay the full sums owed, sources suggest at least some senior players have received some payment over the weekend.
It is not known exactly how weighty these payments were – a report in The Sun suggested several players have received a £11,000 payment taken from a monthly EFL payout – but it is a step in the right direction when it comes to preparing for a preseason that is due to start in just over a week’s time.

Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri warned a far back as December that the club could run into financial difficulties as the club battled against the loss of matchday revenue due to the coronavirus crisis.
It has been estimated that relegation to League One could cost the club somewhere in the region of £8m in media revenue.
Wednesday will remain under the terms of a soft transfer embargo until their accounts for the 2019/20 season are submitted, though they are still able to register a handful of new signings on free transfer or non-fee loan terms, markets they were expected to target regardless.
