Sheffield Wednesday make Bolton Wanderers Carabao Cup ticket announcement - suggests good crowd expected
The Owls host Bolton in the Carabao Cup next month
Parts of Sheffield Wednesday’s Kop stand will be open for the Carabao Cup clash against Bolton Wanderers, it has been announced.
The Owls host the newly-promoted Championship side on Saturday, August 8 in the first round of the competition. The two teams met in the same round of the cup last season at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, which finished 3-3, before Wednesday won on penalties.
Initially, the club said only the South Stand would be open for the fixture but excitement for the new campaign has caused ticket demand to exceed expectations. They have now announced that lower blocks of the Kop will be available.
“Given the exceptional demand for South Stand tickets, supporters can now watch the match from the lower areas of the Kop,” the club said.
Tickets are now on sale and are priced £15 for adults and seniors, £10 for seniors and under-22s and £5 for under-18s.
It remains to be seen how both Wednesday and Bolton approach the game. It could effectively be seen as another friendly match in preparation for the league season and neither side will want to suffer any serious injuries. However, a competitive fixture before the proper stuff starts could be beneficial.
After Bolton, who won promotion to League One via the play-offs last season, Wednesday then travel to Leyton Orient in the League One opener on August 15 before hosting Bradford City the following Thursday in the first home league encounter.
Tickets for Bolton are available at the ticket office, by telephone on 03700 201867 (option 1) or online on the club’s official website.
