The Owls returned to training on Monday for the first time in two months as they headed back to Middlewood Road in small groups, with attacker, Fernando Forestieri, wasting no time in showing off his social distancing with Atdhe Nuhiu as the pair donned facemasks at the club’s training ground.

With football still on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the English Football League have previously stated that they are hoping to get back on the field around June 13th, a date that monk and his troops will be aiming to make sure that they’re ready for.

Keeping that in mind, the Star understands that Wednesday have pretty much a clean bill of health after having two months out of the game, and while full match fitness is something that will only come with more training, there are no serious injury concerns for Monk and his technical team to worry about.

The likes of Massimo Luongo, Adam Reach and Moses Odubajo who missed plenty of games prior to the break, while Julian Börner and Kieran Lee both picked up knocks in the FA Cup against Manchester City.

It’s believed that, aside from a few niggles, Wednesday are currently in good shape as Monk plans for their next game - whenever that may be - in news that will come as a boost to the Wednesday boss after a tough start to 2020.
