Miguel Llera began pre-season training with the Owls squad today after signing a new one-year contract.

Manager Dave Jones revealed the news before the squad began work at Middlewood.

Jones also said that Jermaine Johnson will re-resign when he returns to work the week after next.

The winger has been give extra time off as he has been playing for Jamaica during the summer.

Jones still hopes that Giles Coke will stay: “The decision is down to him. We have done everything we can,” said the manager.

He admitted that he has spoken to Kevin Davies and “could be” interested in the out-of-contract Bolton striker.

But Jones said he has not registered an interest in Ivan Krstanovic or spoken to the Dinamo Zagreb striker, despite the player having been quoted as saying he is coming to the club.

Jones confirmed that interest in last season’s loan players Leroy Lita and Jeremy Helan was “ongoing.”

Michail Antonio and Reda Johnson, who are on the way back after injuries, are training but not joining in fully with the squad just yet.

Their first games are likely to be during the week’s stay in Portugal in mid-July but they should be fully fit for the start of the season.
